An Ode To Summer

“Summer will end soon enough, and childhood as well.”
― George R.R. MartinA Game of Thrones

Yes, the above quote sums up my feelings perfectly at this moment. As winter in South Africa officially sets in, all that summer held is to be put away in a box, stowed in the cupboard for the next few months. Summer equals play time, winter then the opposite? You decide.

For me it is battling with myself to get out of my cosy bed each morning and face the cold outside world; struggling to find a pair of stockings that's not ripped; and having a full on debate with myself at the end of each day to decide if it is worth it to brave the cold and go for a run, but as they say: no winter lasts forever and no spring skips it's turn.

For now let us remember with generosity all the good that summer held.

“Spring passes and one remembers one's innocence.
Summer passes and one remembers one's exuberance.
Autumn passes and one remembers one's reverence.
Winter passes and one remembers one's perseverance.”
― Yoko Ono
