Speaking of fashionsandwich - Sushi

I have yet to encounter a storm that could keep me away from sushi. There may have been snow on table mountain today, but that didn't keep us from grabbing a bite at one of Cape Town's best sushi restaurants.

For all the fellow sushi lovers out there, here is my round up of the best sushi places in Cape Town - Tried & Tested

1. Yummy Zone
Situated in Bellville, this Chinese and Thai food restaurant is it's name worth in gold. Try their all-you-can-eat buffet, which includes sushi, spring rolls, dumplings and stir-fry dishes. On weekends you will be lucky to get a seat if you haven't booked.

2. Best of Asia

A franchise well worth visiting. All of the Best of Asia restaurant have sushi specials. And for those who favour a sweet and salty combination, try there prawn peancurl, like having dinner and dessert rolled into a tiny soy bean basket of goodness.

3. Goldenfish

The only place where the view is as good as the sushi. Situated on the beach front in Tableview. Enjoy their delicious dragonrolls(a must). If you go during the week, you pay cheaper for the all-you-can-eat sushi buffet - bonus!

4. Sevruga

Nothing beats their happy hour from noon until six. Half price sushi, dim sum and cocktails. Join the beautiful locals there for a bite before you hit town for the night.

5. Active Sushi

Smack in the middle of busy Cape Town you will find this sushi haven. Try their couch corner for a date or fill up a big table on the balcony with a group of friends, either you can be sure the evening will be a success, thanks to their mad sushi skills.

That's my top five, let me know if  you can top that, I am always keen for a new sushi adventure.

Fashion Friday: 90's fashion revival - Cara Delevingne

I do care for the odd alliteration, hence fashion Friday's! What better day to do a fashion update than on the day the weekend starts. It is when we shed our sweat stressed work clothes for beautiful dresses, tight jeans and with this weather all things faux furry. 90's fashion is making a huge comeback, and the poster child this time around is no other than the beautiful bad ass thug model, Cara Delevingne.

Rock the 90's style, with these tips and tricks
Make sure your make-up is bold and bright, add splashes of colour on your lips, lids and cheeks.
We all remember the crop top, but this time around, wear it loose or tight and knotted.

Don't take prints too seriously, have fun with big and colourful printed knits.

This season the denim shirt gets a companion-le denim jacket

Keep your mouth shut and let your shirt do the talking

Loud pants and a bomber jacket will keep the chill away

For headgear it's either a flat cap or a big woolly beanie

And If you end up looking like this, you are doing it wrong!

Long live the 70's

Tuck in Thursday : Lemon Ricotta Thyme pancakes with blueberry sauce

Why not make your most important meal of the day, something delicious. My pancake recipe is easy, healthy and will fill you up until lunch.

Lemon Ricotta Thyme pancakes with blueberry sauce:

1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup cornmeal
2 Tablespoons  sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 Tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
2 eggs
1 1/4 cups milk
1/2 cup whole milk ricotta cheese
2 Tablespoons melted butter
1 Tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1 cup blueberries
Blueberry Sauce:
2 cups fresh blueberries
1 cup blueberry jam
Zest and juice of one lemon
                                         Start with your Blueberry sauce
Instructions
  1. Add the fresh blueberries, jam, lemon zest, and lemon juice to a saucepan. Melt over low heat until the berries pop and the jam melts. Keep warm until the pancakes are ready.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, ricotta cheese, butter, honey, and lemon zest. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined. You can stir the blueberries in at this point, but I like to add them when the pancakes are cooking.
  3. Heat a griddle over a preheated griddle, I like medium heat, spray with cooking spray or melt butter. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, and flip over when bubbles form on the edges. Serve with blueberry sauce and extra thyme leaves if you would like.

If all goes well, your end product will look something like this . . .

. . . If it does not look like the above food porn, well I bet it will still be as tasty. Enjoy!
